Strong Run In Daytona Ended With 18 Laps To Go

July 6, 2012 – Starting 30th and finishing 30th hardly tells the story behind this evenings race for the #15 Tobacco Free Florida-Nuts Off Ford Mustang driven by Jeffrey Earnhardt. Rick Ware Racing fielded its best car of the season for Jeffrey and the newest Earnhardt driver demonstrated that the team was ready to compete for a victory. Within the first few laps Jeffrey made his way to the top 5-10 and remained there for the majority of the race. Narrowly escaping the first big wreck with a quick inside move saved everything but the rear bumper and kept Jeffrey in the front of the pack until lap 82 when the #6 car put a little too much bump in his bump draft. “We had a great car tonight and I felt like we would finish in the front. Our rear bumper had already been crushed a bit earlier from the one we escaped and Ricky got a bit aggressive on his bumping” said Jeffrey. “It’s disappointing to have a strong run ended like that but I let him know we weren’t pleased and I don’t expect he’ll do that again.”
