RICHMOND, Va.- NASCAR’s premiere division rolled into Richmond International Raceway this past week with multiple story lines surrounding the final race to enter the Chase. Chase entry scenarios ranged from the #1 taking the green flag to nothing short of a victory to enter NASCAR’s playoff season. One driver had an entirely different goal. Jeffrey Earnhardt was piloting the #32 CorvetteParts.net – Beerfrost.com Ford Fusion owned by Go Green Racing and it was his first
opportunity to enter a Sprint Cup Series race. This opportunity has not come easy for the 4th generation driver with the most popular last name in American
motorsports. “It’s been a long road” said Jeffrey when questioned about his chance to compete with his famous uncle and other Cup Series drivers. “I always get questions about why I haven’t been in Cup or driven at one of the big teams in Xfinity and candidly speaking, it comes down to funding. I didn’t have some of the benefits the other young drivers did so I realized the only way I was going to get here was to form my own company and work my way thru the ranks.
” Earnhardt has competed in Truck, Xfinity, Grand Am and this year drove in his first NASCAR Euro Series race. “I’m doing things the old fashioned way I guess” joked Jeffrey. “I’ve learned a lot about business, racing, relationships and have confidence we’re on the right path.”
That path started Saturday with Jeffrey driving his way into the race and starting in the 42nd position. Go Green and Earnhardt were challenged by handling issues throughout the race but when the checkered flag waived, the #32 finished with only minor bumps & bruises. “We’re all competitors so of course we wanted a better finish but in the big scheme of things, it’s a marathon for us. This race represents a major accomplishment in my progress and now we have to take the next steps to build upon it” commented Jeffrey.
Fortunately for Earnhardt and his growing fan base, those steps are now being paved. Nikko Lavey who works with Earnhardt at JEI had this to say, “Jeffrey’s a persistent young man and after several years of hard work, plenty of highs & lows, we’re able to make announcements in the upcoming weeks that are certain
to bring a smile to all involved.”
This is great news for Earnhardt fans and for everyone with a dream and the will to pursue it.
