Jeffrey Earnhardt made his second NASCAR Nationwide Series start of 2011 at Daytona International Speedway this weekend and showed everyone he is a contender each time he hits the historic track.
Earnhardt finished 11th in the his Grand-Am Series debut in January and backed that up with a 7th in his debut in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event in February.
Jeffrey qualified in the 27th position and paired up quickly with his RWR teammate, Timmy Hill. The two rookies practiced the two car draft up until just a handful of laps remained when it became a free for all.
“We had worked with Timmy all race and when the green dropped with seven to go we started moving to the front when we got separated. I got shuffled back pretty good with three to go until we got hooked up with Bliss (#19).”
Bliss tagged the bumper of the #41 Fastwax Chevy and the two ran down the pack from the 31st position to the Top 20 in just two laps.
“That 19 was awesome and pushed me like I have never been pushed. We ducked in and out of other two car groups like they were sitting still and crossed in 17th under caution. It was a great finish for the Fastwax car and I am looking forward to getting behind the wheel again.”
After further review, NASCAR placed Earnhardt in the 19th position, still a career high in the Nationwide Series.
